Moroccan striker Alaaeddine Ajaraie has left NorthEast United to play on loan for Persija Jakarta in the upcoming Indian Super League 2026 season. The prize money for this year’s event has been increased to Rs 1.5 crore from the previous Rs 1 crore. The tournament is set to kick off with the Pro-Am event on February 1, featuring Indian and international professionals.

He highlighted the state’s growing interest in professional golf and thanked the government and local stakeholders for their support. The tournament provides a platform for professionals to compete and contributes to the sport’s development in emerging golfing destinations like Chhattisgarh.

The second edition reaffirms their commitment to promoting golf beyond traditional centers into Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. The tournament’s increased prize money of INR 1.5 crore aims to support Indian professionals and aligns with the vision of Viksit Bharat.
The Chhattisgarh Open Golf Championship’s second edition, featuring a 50% increase in prize money, has garnered support from various stakeholders. Arun Sao, deputy chief minister and sports minister of Chhattisgarh, highlighted the government’s dedication to promoting golf and positioning the state as a hub for national sporting events. Such tournaments not only nurture sporting talent but also boost tourism, youth engagement, and overall state development.
The upcoming tournament will host 126 professionals playing in a stroke-play format over four rounds of 18 holes each. After two rounds, the top 50 players and ties will advance to the subsequent rounds.
