The President of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), Ajinkya Naik, recently met with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to discuss plans for a state-of-the-art cricket stadium in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The proposed stadium, aiming for a seating capacity of 100,000, is set to become one of the largest cricket venues globally, focusing on top-notch infrastructure and fan experience.
Naik’s discussions with Vijay Singhal, Managing Director of CIDCO, were detailed to outline the roadmap for this significant infrastructure project. The initiative, led by CM Fadnavis, is poised to boost Maharashtra’s sporting landscape and put the state on the global sports map with a world-class stadium in Mumbai.
“This landmark project will not only enhance Mumbai cricket but also elevate Maharashtra’s stature in the global sports arena,” stated Naik, emphasizing the opportunities it will create for player development and talent exposure. The stadium is expected to drive sports tourism, host international events, and enhance the region’s sporting prominence.
The stadium project aligns with the state’s vision of nurturing talent, strengthening grassroots cricket, and providing top-tier platforms for athletes. In a commitment made for 2025, CM Devendra Fadnavis pledged to allocate land for MCA to construct a new stadium accommodating 100,000 spectators, reinforcing the state’s support for sports development.
