Mumbai Indians batting coach Kieron Pollard praised former skipper Rohit Sharma for completing 15 years with the team. Pollard delivered a heartfelt speech in the dressing room, commending Rohit for his dedication and mentorship to the younger players.
Rohit Sharma began his IPL career with the Deccan Chargers from 2008 to 2010 before joining Mumbai Indians in 2011. His move to MI, supported by Sachin Tendulkar, saw him debut on April 10, 2011, against Delhi Daredevils, where he scored an unbeaten 27 runs in a significant eight-wicket victory. Even after 15 years, Rohit remains a vital part of the team.
In a video released by MI, Rohit expressed gratitude for his 15-year journey with the franchise, highlighting the invaluable experiences gained. He humorously suggested putting 15 crores in a box to share with the team, emphasizing the unity within the MI family.
Pollard also acknowledged Rohit’s leadership and determination, praising his role in guiding the team to multiple championships. He commended Rohit’s resilience and emphasized the privilege of having him in the dressing room, wishing him continued success.
Rohit Sharma’s impact extends beyond his impressive batting record, with 230 IPL matches for Mumbai Indians and over 5,900 runs, including two centuries. His captaincy has been instrumental in leading Mumbai to victory in five IPL seasons – 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020.
