Five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) will kick off their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 campaign against three-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. MI aims to secure their sixth title this season, with Hardik Pandya leading the team for the third consecutive year. Despite not winning a trophy since 2020, MI boasts a strong lineup including Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, and Trent Boult.
KKR, led by Ajinkya Rahane, have assembled a formidable squad for the upcoming season, featuring players like Cameron Green, Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy, and Finn Allen. Notably, this season marks the first time in over a decade that KKR will play without Andre Russell. In the previous season, KKR struggled, winning only five out of 14 group stage matches and finishing in 8th place despite being defending champions.
The match between MI and KKR is scheduled for March 29 at 7:30 PM IST at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Fans can catch the live action on Star Sports channels on TV, while live streaming will be available on the JioHotstar website and mobile app in various regional languages.
