The Mumbai Police recently uncovered an alleged prostitution ring spanning Ghatkopar, Andheri, and Sakinaka. A 38-year-old woman, Kavita Anil Mane, was detained for allegedly orchestrating the network and exploiting two women. Mane is accused of exploiting vulnerable women financially by enticing them with money and arranging services for clients.
A case has been filed against Mane under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. Following a tip-off, the police discovered that Mane was supplying women to hotels for sexual services. Mane demanded Rs 30,000 per woman from clients before providing the services.
The police set up a sting operation by posing as a customer and caught Mane in the act at a lodge on the Ghatkopar-Andheri Link Road. Mane arrived with two women, aged 32 and 31, and was apprehended while accepting money for sexual services. The rescued women disclosed that Mane had promised them Rs 15,000 each for offering services to clients.
Both rescued women are receiving necessary support, and efforts are ongoing to identify other individuals involved in the racket. In a similar incident last year, a prostitution ring in Sector 63, Behlolpur, was dismantled by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit and Noida Police, rescuing seven women. Authorities are committed to combatting such illegal activities and holding perpetrators of human trafficking accountable.
