Shujaat Ali Quadri, the chairman of the Muslim Students’ Organisation of India, has refuted claims linking him to the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM). He emphasized that he has never been associated with AIMIM and operates independently without formal political ties. Quadri urged media outlets to verify information accurately before assigning political labels to individuals to prevent misinformation.
In response to recent media reports misidentifying him as an AIMIM leader, Quadri took to social media to set the record straight. He expressed his commitment to issue-based work and highlighted the importance of maintaining clarity regarding political affiliations. Quadri also criticized inaccurate reporting, warning of the confusion it can cause among the public.
Quadri’s clarification followed his comments on a controversy involving Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind’s statements about AIMIM. While acknowledging political disagreements with AIMIM, Quadri found the characterization of the party as “communal” surprising and unfortunate. He called on Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind to explain the basis of its allegations and emphasized the necessity of transparency in public statements.
