Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus has expressed dissatisfaction with his team’s training schedule before their Men’s T20 World Cup match against India. Erasmus mentioned that they were not able to practice under floodlights at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Namibia, after losing to the Netherlands in their opening match, had planned an evening training session to prepare for the day-night game against India.
However, Namibia ended up with an afternoon practice slot while India trained in the evening leading up to the match. Erasmus highlighted the lack of exposure to night games for his team, emphasizing the challenge it poses for them. He urged his younger players to embrace the moment and not be intimidated by the star-studded Indian team and the large crowd expected at the venue.
Erasmus emphasized the need for his team to stay focused and enjoy the occasion to increase their chances of success against the strong Indian team. He anticipated a batting-friendly pitch at the venue, known for high-scoring matches during the IPL. Erasmus also praised the contributions of players like Ruben Trumpelmann and JJ Smit to the team’s success, stressing the importance of collective effort over individual performances.
