Andhra Pradesh Minister for Information Technology and Human Resource Development, Nara Lokesh, praised Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries, H.D. Kumaraswamy, for saving the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) at Visakhapatnam from closure or privatization. Lokesh emphasized the emotional significance of the Vizag Steel Plant to the people of Andhra Pradesh, stating it is their right. He highlighted that due to past policy decisions, the plant faced a critical situation but is now on the path to recovery under Kumaraswamy’s leadership.
Lokesh mentioned that Kumaraswamy, upon becoming Union Steel Minister, assured the protection of the plant and has fulfilled his promise. He recounted how he urged Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat to discuss the matter with Kumaraswamy, leading to the Union Minister’s direct involvement in saving the plant. Lokesh expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the people of Andhra Pradesh for Kumaraswamy’s efforts in safeguarding the Vizag Steel Plant.
Additionally, Lokesh highlighted the recent laying of the foundation stone for a large green steel manufacturing facility in Anakapalli, Andhra Pradesh, through collaboration. He attributed the success in attracting this significant investment to Kumaraswamy’s contributions. Reflecting on the longstanding relationship between their families, Lokesh mentioned the historical ties dating back over three decades, including the involvement of his father, N. Chandrababu Naidu, and H.D. Deve Gowda during the United Front government.
