National-Award winner Swanand Kirkire believes that mainstream Bollywood lyrics have not lost their poetic depth but have evolved with changing times and sensibilities. Kirkire emphasized that while newer sounds and words are entering lyrics, it does not mean a loss of poetic essence. He acknowledged the shift in imagery and vocabulary to resonate with the younger generation’s worldview.
The acclaimed lyricist highlighted the coexistence of commercially-driven songs and those with deeper meanings in the industry. Kirkire pointed out that there is a balance between popular tracks and those that carry significant messages, indicating a diverse landscape in Bollywood music. He also stressed the importance of enhancing Hindi language skills among younger creators to enrich lyrical content.
While praising the emergence of musicians from smaller towns and the independent rap scene, Kirkire expressed optimism about the meaningful contributions being made in the music industry. He commended the talents from diverse backgrounds for their creative endeavors and highlighted the ongoing evolution and relevance of music in contemporary times.

Collaborating with Ankur Tewari, this venture marks a significant milestone in Kirkire’s storytelling journey.
