Nearly a month after a NEET aspirant from Jehanabad died under suspicious circumstances at Shambhu Girls’ Hostel in Patna, the hostel gate was unlocked on police instructions following a court order. Police oversaw the opening of the gate as students and families arrived to collect belongings left behind.
Upon police arrival at the hostel, a crowd gathered outside. A person, summoned by the police, arrived with a covered face and unlocked the gate. Subsequently, police guided students inside to retrieve their possessions.
Jitendra Kumar, accompanying his daughter from Arwal, mentioned that she was a student at the hostel in Patna. Following the incident, all students vacated the premises, leaving their belongings. He stated, “We came with the police today to collect her things. The hostel staff were called to unlock the gate.”
The incident occurred on the night of January 5 and 6, involving a NEET aspirant found unconscious at the hostel. Despite initial claims of suicide by the police and hostel administration, no suicide note was discovered. The case evolved from a simple suicide to a suspicious death, and later, a potential rape and murder investigation, prompting demands for a thorough probe.
