The New Delhi Declaration on AI Impact has garnered support from 91 countries and international organizations. The ‘AI Impact Summit 2026’ recently held in New Delhi concluded with the adoption of this declaration, signifying a significant step in global collaboration on artificial intelligence. Initially endorsed by 88 countries and organizations, the declaration saw an increase in signatories with Bangladesh, Costa Rica, and Guatemala joining, bringing the total to 91.
The Declaration signifies a global consensus on utilizing AI for economic advancement and societal welfare. Emphasizing the principle of “Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya” (Welfare for all, Happiness for all), it stresses the equitable distribution of AI benefits worldwide. The document underscores the importance of international cooperation, multi-stakeholder engagement, national sovereignty, and the promotion of AI through accessible and reliable frameworks.
It highlights the pivotal role of AI in driving economic progress, the significance of open-source and accessible AI ecosystems, the necessity for energy-efficient AI infrastructure, and the expansion of AI’s applications in various sectors like science, governance, and public services.
