New Zealand has reinforced its pace bowling lineup by welcoming back Matt Fisher, Will O’Rourke, and Blair Tickner for the upcoming white-ball tour of Bangladesh. These fast bowlers are returning to the squad after recovering from injuries that sidelined them during the home season. Fisher, O’Rourke, and Tickner have diligently worked to regain fitness and earn their spots in the team, providing valuable depth to the bowling department.
Blackcaps head coach Rob Walter expressed his satisfaction with the return of these bowlers, emphasizing their dedication and hard work in making a comeback. He highlighted the importance of having quality players like Fisher, O’Rourke, and Tickner back in the squad, especially considering the demanding cricket schedule. The inclusion of off-spinning allrounder Dean Foxcroft further strengthens the team’s white-ball setup for the tour.
In the absence of regular white-ball captain Mitch Santner, Test skipper Tom Latham will lead both the ODI and T20I squads during the Bangladesh tour. The selection of players like Muhammad Abbas, Adithya Ashok, Kristian Clarke, and Ben Sears was influenced by their impressive performances for New Zealand A in Sri Lanka. Notably, Clarke and Lennox stood out in New Zealand’s recent ODI series victory in India.
The coaching staff for the tour will consist of Rob Walter, Jonny Bassett-Graham, Brendon Donkers, and Josh Tasman-Jones, providing support and guidance to the players. The Blackcaps are scheduled to depart for Bangladesh on April 13, with the first ODI match set for April 17, marking the beginning of an exciting series.
