NITI Aayog has initiated the ‘Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0’, a three-month campaign starting on January 28 and ending on April 14, 2026. The goal is to enhance key development indicators in Aspirational Districts and Blocks throughout India. The campaign, led by NITI Aayog CEO B.V.R Subrahmanyam, focuses on achieving full coverage of essential services in health, nutrition, education, sanitation, and animal welfare.
Building upon the success of the previous Sampoornata Abhiyan in 2024, this new phase targets the improvement of six crucial indicators in Aspirational Blocks. These include ensuring regular supplementary nutrition for young children under the ICDS scheme, enhancing child measurement at Anganwadi centers, providing functional toilets and drinking water in Anganwadis, increasing schools with proper girls’ toilet facilities, and boosting bovine animal vaccination against Foot and Mouth Disease.
At the district level, the campaign will concentrate on five key areas, such as increasing the number of newborns weighed at birth, improving tuberculosis case reporting from public and private hospitals, ensuring regular health and nutrition days in villages and urban areas, enhancing girls’ toilet facilities in schools, and expanding animal vaccination coverage. NITI Aayog encourages districts and blocks to host launch events and ongoing outreach activities to maintain the campaign’s momentum.
Local administrations will develop three-month action plans, monitor progress monthly, conduct awareness and behavior change campaigns, and carry out regular field visits to oversee implementation. The central government, state governments, and relevant ministries will collaborate closely with NITI Aayog to enhance planning, build capacity, and enhance service delivery. The ultimate objective of Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0 is to bring visible and sustainable improvements to the quality of life in the most underdeveloped regions of the country.
