In a significant political move in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar left for New Delhi on Thursday to be sworn in as a Rajya Sabha member on Friday. Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter, Rohini Acharya, criticized him in a satirical post on social media. The post depicted Nitish Kumar leaving Bihar with symbolic imagery hinting at the end of his political career in the state.
Earlier in the day, Nitish Kumar, accompanied by key party leaders and ministers, including JDU National Working President Sanjay Jha and Water Resource Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, departed for Delhi. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and Bihar Agriculture Minister Ram Kripal Yadav from the BJP camp also traveled to Delhi.
Nitish Kumar is set to take his oath as a Rajya Sabha member on April 10 in Delhi. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha on March 16 and resigned from the post of MLC on March 30. Sources suggest that he might meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his visit.
Expected to return to Patna by April 11 or 12, Nitish Kumar is likely to step down as Chief Minister thereafter. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is anticipated to announce a new Chief Minister post his resignation, with a formal swearing-in ceremony expected shortly after. These events mark a pivotal moment in Bihar politics, characterized by strong political reactions, high-level discussions, and leadership changes.
