The Noida International Airport’s Phase-1, set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to improve connectivity and ease travel in Delhi-NCR. Developed at a cost of Rs 11,200 crore, the airport is operated by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL) in partnership with Zurich Airport International AG and the Central and state governments.
Strategically positioned along the Yamuna Expressway, this airport is the second civil airport in the National Capital Region (NCR) and one of India’s significant greenfield projects. It recently obtained its aerodrome license for “all-weather operations,” signifying readiness for various weather conditions in the Delhi-NCR region.
With an initial capacity of 1.2 crore passengers annually, expandable to 7 crore in the future, the airport’s first phase includes a 3,900-meter runway capable of handling wide-body aircraft. Equipped with advanced systems like Instrument Landing System (ILS) and aeronautical ground lighting, it ensures smooth operations even during low visibility.
The Noida International Airport is designed to house the country’s first Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility, along with a cargo unit capable of handling over 2.5 lakh metric tonnes annually. Positioned as a vital international gateway for the NCR, it is expected to enhance both domestic and international connectivity, bolstering India’s aviation infrastructure.
Planned as a multi-modal transport hub, the airport will integrate seamlessly with road, rail, metro, and regional transit systems, ensuring efficient connectivity for passengers and cargo alike.
