Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi of Odisha instructed district collectors to maintain 24-hour enforcement squads to tackle black marketing, illegal hoarding, and price hikes. He emphasized the need to monitor market conditions closely and reviewed the supply of essential goods in the state during a virtual meeting with collectors. The Chief Minister urged officials to take stringent action against unethical traders and ensure the availability of essential commodities.
In response to the situation in West Asia, CM Majhi discussed the steps taken at the district level to address evolving circumstances. He reassured the public that there is an ample supply of essential items in the state and emphasized the government’s efforts to maintain a smooth supply chain. The Chief Minister also advised collectors to regularly update the public on the availability of essential goods to alleviate concerns.
During a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, CM Majhi highlighted the importance of unity among Chief Ministers under the spirit of “Team India.” He stressed the necessity for all stakeholders to collaborate effectively during the current situation. Additionally, the Chief Minister directed collectors to combat misinformation and monitor social media closely to prevent panic among the public.
To ensure uninterrupted availability of essential goods, crisis management groups have been established at state and district levels. Collectors were tasked with monitoring the availability of key commodities like petrol, diesel, LPG, and fertilizers in their respective districts. The Chief Minister also called for sustained awareness campaigns to prevent public panic, emphasizing the coordinated efforts needed for crisis management.
Principal Secretary of the Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department, Sanjay Kumar Singh, presented the state government’s measures, while district collectors briefed the Chief Minister on local initiatives.
