Odisha Vigilance recently discovered significant assets linked to a senior official of the Department of Water Resources. Rajesh Chandra Mohanty, an Additional Chief Engineer, faced simultaneous house searches at six locations in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Jajpur, and Dhenkanal districts. The searches revealed assets including a multi-storeyed building, a farmhouse, valuable plots, cash, gold ornaments, and vehicles.
The raids targeted properties such as Mohanty’s residential building in Bhubaneswar, his paternal house in Jajpur, and his office chamber. Odisha Vigilance, comprising six teams, conducted the searches based on court-issued Search Warrants. The assets found during the searches are valued at crores, prompting further investigation into Mohanty’s financial sources to uncover potential additional assets.
Vigilance officials are currently examining Mohanty to determine the origins of the discovered assets. The ongoing investigation may lead to the discovery of more assets, potentially increasing the total valuation.
