Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, urged for a thorough and time-bound investigation into the recent Ganderbal district encounter where one alleged terrorist was reportedly killed. He emphasized the importance of not disregarding the family’s claims without proper scrutiny, stating that transparency in the probe is essential to maintain public trust. Abdullah highlighted that any delay in initiating an inquiry could impact public confidence negatively.

The deceased’s family asserted that the individual killed in the encounter was a civilian, not a militant, and demanded an independent investigation to uncover the truth. The Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps, responding to the incident, mentioned that the operation was based on specific intelligence inputs and involved a joint search operation with the Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Arahama area of Ganderbal.

Following the encounter, unmanned aerial vehicles were utilized to track down any remaining terrorists in the region, with additional troops deployed to prevent their escape. The security forces intensified operations in surrounding villages to secure the area. Ganderbal district, historically free of terrorist activities, witnessed this recent encounter, raising concerns among security personnel.

Authorities have emphasized the protection of civilian lives and property during anti-terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir, with strict directives to avoid harm. Any negligence in adhering to these guidelines is taken seriously by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and security forces.
