One person lost their life and fifteen others sustained injuries when a bus overturned in Agar Malwa district of Madhya Pradesh. The tragic incident occurred on Saturday morning as the bus, en route to Kurawar from Susner, suddenly flipped near Badagaon. Among the injured passengers, some are in critical condition, with four individuals requiring advanced medical care at the District Hospital in Agar Malwa.
The driver’s loss of control led to the bus striking a 55-year-old man walking with his buffalo, resulting in his immediate death, as confirmed by Sardar Singh Parmar, the in-charge of the Badagaon police outpost. The deceased, identified as Gokul Singh, aged 55, was recovered from the site and his body sent for a postmortem examination. Locals played a crucial role in the initial rescue efforts, aiding in extricating the injured from the overturned bus before the arrival of official help.
The bus, carrying around 30 passengers, veered off the road and overturned after the driver apparently lost control, causing chaos and panic among the passengers. The injured were promptly taken to Nalkheda Community Hospital for emergency treatment, with some requiring further medical attention due to the severity of their injuries. Doctors are closely monitoring the critical patients, many of whom are battling serious trauma and internal injuries.
The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, with factors like mechanical failure, driver error, or poor road conditions being considered. Police have initiated a detailed probe into the incident, seizing the bus for forensic examination and recording statements from survivors and eyewitnesses to determine the sequence of events.
