Congress MLA Arif Masood, representing the Muslim community, welcomed the Supreme Court’s ruling, highlighting the historical peaceful coexistence of Hindus and Muslims at the site during prayer times. Masood viewed the verdict as a message of harmony and emphasized the need for mutual respect and religious tolerance among visitors to the disputed structure.
Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh acknowledged the longstanding dispute over Bhojshala but noted the peaceful prayer gatherings since 2003-04. Singh urged the state government to adhere to the Supreme Court’s decision, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and order. Meanwhile, the ruling BJP in the state had not issued an official statement at the time of reporting.
As the Hindu festival of Basant Panchami coincides with the Muslim weekly Namaz schedule, a high alert was declared in Dhar district. The Supreme Court permitted Hindu prayers from sunrise to sunset on Basant Panchami and allowed Muslims to offer namaz from 1 pm to 3 pm at the site. The Court appealed for mutual respect and cooperation between both communities and the administration to ensure law and order.
