With the Kerala Assembly election approaching, Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan claimed that the ruling front is facing challenges in maintaining public trust. He highlighted an incident where Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s security personnel were allegedly assaulted during a campaign event, suggesting growing frustration among political opponents.
Satheesan expressed concern over the circulation of what he termed as “fabricated and motivated poll surveys” on social media. He accused these surveys of aiming to mislead voters and manipulate public opinion in the final days of campaigning.
The Opposition leader criticized Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for his perceived leniency towards the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI). Satheesan raised questions about the Chief Minister’s political motivations, citing a soft approach towards a group labeled as extremist even within Left circles.
Satheesan emphasized that recent events, including the attack on campaign personnel and the dissemination of questionable surveys, indicate pressure on the ruling front. As the election campaign intensifies, he pledged to address voter concerns and expressed confidence in the electorate’s ability to discern the truth amidst attempts to distort the narrative.
