Pakistani forces launched rocket strikes in the Shali Dara area of Afghanistan’s Khas Kunar district, causing panic among local residents. The attacks resulted in no immediate reports of casualties or damage. This escalation follows unsuccessful talks between Pakistan and the Taliban in Urumqi.

China recently mentioned progress in negotiations between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated that mediation efforts have been ongoing, with both countries appreciating China’s role. Tensions have risen significantly between Kabul and Islamabad due to Pakistani airstrikes and artillery fire in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan’s Minister of Economy, Qari Din Mohammad Hanif, reported that over 27,000 Afghan families across nine provinces have been displaced by Pakistan’s military actions. Hanif highlighted the dire conditions faced by these families, lacking basic necessities like food, shelter, and healthcare. He called for humanitarian assistance from UN agencies and partner organizations to aid the displaced population.
