The Special Vigilance Department in Bihar apprehended Panchayat Secretary Jitendra Prasad red-handed at the Ara Sadar block office. He was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 for issuing a birth certificate. The complainant, Naveen Kumar Singh, reported that despite completing all formalities, the certificate was intentionally delayed.
The complainant alleged that Prasad initially demanded Rs 20,000, later reducing it to Rs 10,000 after repeated requests. He insisted on the bribe for issuing the birth certificate and continued to stall the process. Frustrated by the demands, Singh lodged a complaint with the Special Vigilance Department on December 29, leading to Prasad’s arrest.
Confirming the arrest, DSP Chandra Bhushan stated that the Panchayat Secretary was caught accepting the bribe money. There are suspicions that Prasad may have been following instructions from the Block Development Officer, which is currently under investigation. The vigilance action has caused unrest in the block office, with ongoing investigations into the matter.
