Indian author Pankaj Mishra has been honored with the Weston International Award, a notable Canadian accolade. The Writers’ Trust of Canada announced that Mishra is the second recipient of this award, which recognizes exceptional non-fiction work by an international author. The prize, worth $75,000, celebrates outstanding contributions to the genre.

The jurors praised Mishra for his skillful exploration of complex themes such as identity, nationalism, and belonging. His influential works include “Age of Anger: A History of the Present” and “From the Ruins of Empire: The Revolt Against the West and the Remaking of Asia.” Mishra’s writing is noted for its insightful analysis and provocative arguments.

Mishra, originally from northwestern India, now divides his time between London and Mashobra, India. He is scheduled to deliver a lecture at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto on September 16, where he will discuss his acclaimed work and the themes explored in his writing.
