The ‘Parishkriti’ handloom exhibition, as stated by Dr. M. Beena, Development Commissioner (Handlooms), offers weavers and artisans a valuable platform to engage directly with high-end customers, enhancing their market reach. Dr. Beena highlighted that the event’s concept aims to unite skilled weavers and handloom experts from various regions of India at a prominent location in the national capital. This strategic placement ensures increased visibility, sales prospects, and enables artisans to grasp broader market dynamics and customer preferences.
This year marks the exhibition’s second consecutive edition at the same venue, following a successful debut last year, according to Dr. Beena. The Ministry is actively striving to establish this exhibition as an annual affair to cultivate a robust identity and brand value over time. Dr. Beena emphasized that such marketing initiatives not only drive sales but also foster enduring brand recognition and market consciousness.
The ‘Parishkriti’ handloom exhibition, scheduled from February 22 to 28, 2026, at the India International Centre in New Delhi, serves as a dedicated platform for handloom artisans and weavers nationwide. It enables them to exhibit and vend their creations directly to consumers, eliminating intermediary involvement. National Award recipient Angika Kushwaha, honored in 2023 for her handloom product marketing efforts, is representing Varanasi at the event. She highlighted the significance of artisans engaging directly with buyers to ensure the availability of authentic products at reasonable prices.
Khokan Nandi, another National Award winner from West Bengal, underscored the global appeal of Bengal’s Jamdani sarees. Nandi acknowledged the revitalized focus on the handloom sector, supported by the Ministry of Textiles and the Indian Government, signifying a positive shift in attention towards this industry.
