In a significant operation, Patna Police cracked down on a large-scale drug trafficking ring, leading to the arrest of two individuals and the confiscation of more than 21 kg of smack valued at approximately Rs 25 crore. The crackdown, conducted based on specific intelligence received on March 27, resulted in the recovery of a substantial amount of narcotics.
A special team, supervised by City SP (East) Parichay Kumar, carried out the operation at Royal Green Apartment in the Alamganj area, where they found processed brown sugar, cash, mobile phones, and a transportation vehicle. Following the interrogation of the arrested suspects, a second raid at a residence in Khemni Chak uncovered a significant quantity of narcotics, including smack and a cutting agent.
Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma mentioned that a total of 21.181 kg of smack was seized during the operation, with a portion recovered from Alamganj and the rest from the Ramkrishnanagar area. The arrested individuals, Jitendra Kumar and Nitish Kumar, with a history of previous drug-related offenses, are currently under investigation.
Police investigations have revealed the possible involvement of a police constable named Rishikesh Kumar, who has been absent from duty for several months. The authorities also discovered firearms and cheques during the operation, indicating a potentially larger network involved in drug trafficking. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend more individuals associated with the racket.
