An example he cited was a plantation drive in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, where a record-breaking 2.51 lakh saplings were planted in just one hour, setting a new Guinness World Record.
The Prime Minister praised the massive public involvement in the Varanasi initiative, noting the collaboration of students, youth, volunteer organizations, and various institutions. He also mentioned the nationwide “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, which focuses on tree plantation drives, showcasing a similar spirit of public participation. Additionally, PM Modi highlighted a grassroots conservation project in Chizami village, Nagaland, where local women are collectively preserving traditional agricultural knowledge by safeguarding over 150 varieties of seeds in a community seed bank.
PM Modi connected these local efforts to global environmental concerns, emphasizing the relevance of traditional knowledge and community-driven initiatives in addressing challenges like climate change. He underscored the importance of such endeavors in offering practical solutions and lessons for a sustainable future.
