Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the increasing use of solar energy in India during his monthly radio show, Mann Ki Baat. He mentioned the impact of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in driving India’s clean energy transition. Across urban and rural areas, a noticeable shift towards solar energy is evident with solar panels now common on rooftops.
Individual success stories like Payal Munjpara from Gujarat, who became a skilled solar technician through the Surya Initiative, showcase the program’s positive outcomes. Another example is Arun Kumar from Meerut, who has become a local energy provider by selling surplus power and reducing electricity expenses.
PM Modi also highlighted the agricultural sector’s benefits, citing Muralidhar from Jaipur, whose income increased after switching to a solar pump for irrigation. The scheme’s impact extends to remote regions like Tripura, where solar mini-grids are improving the lives of the Riang tribe by providing electricity for studying and social activities.
The Prime Minister emphasized the ongoing solar energy revolution in India, urging more people to participate and spread awareness about the benefits of clean energy.
