Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the significance of cultural heritage in addressing global instability while inaugurating the Samrat Samprati Museum at Koba Tirth in Gandhinagar. The museum, dedicated to preserving India’s civilizational and cultural legacy, houses artifacts of the Jain community collected nationwide, some dating back over 1000 years.
During the inauguration on Mahavir Jayanti, PM Modi underlined the museum’s importance in the current global scenario, stating that its legacy and message are crucial not only for India but for all of humanity. He described the museum as more than just a repository of artifacts, emphasizing its role as a center for Jain worship, cultural preservation, and heritage.
PM Modi praised Koba Tirth as a place of peace and spiritual practice, highlighting its traditions of dedication, study, and discipline that have endured over time. The museum, reflecting a blend of Indian civilization, aims to preserve values, strengthen cultural traditions, and promote knowledge, showcasing the grandeur of India and unity in diversity through its design.
The museum, named after Samrat Samprati, a proponent of non-violence and the grandson of Ashoka, illustrates the evolution and impact of Jainism through its exhibits. It integrates traditional displays with modern digital and audio-visual technology to offer an immersive experience, featuring seven galleries covering Jain philosophy, Tirthankaras’ lives, ancient manuscripts, temple models, and historical artifacts.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel highlighted the museum’s role in cultural preservation, envisioning a larger showcase of India’s culture and traditions in 2026. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi termed the inauguration a significant moment for the global Jain community, emphasizing the museum’s preservation of over 2,000 artifacts, including ancient texts like the Vedas and Puranas.
