Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his 132nd Episode of the weekly ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme, highlighted the success stories of two individuals from Odisha. Sujata Bhuyan, a housewife from Sambalpur district, overcame challenges to establish herself as a successful fish farming entrepreneur in the Hirakud reservoir. Her perseverance and dedication have not only transformed her venture into a thriving business but also inspired other women in the community.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed pride in Sujata Bhuyan’s accomplishments, emphasizing her significant achievements in fish farming through cage culture. With an annual fish production of 25 to 30 metric tonnes and an income of Rs 8 to Rs 10 lakh, she serves as a role model for others. CM Majhi commended her journey from a housewife to a self-reliant entrepreneur, believing it will encourage more women in the state to strive for self-sufficiency.
In the same address, PM Modi also acknowledged Om Prakash Rath from Kendrapara district for his essay on advancing women-led development. Rath’s essay, submitted as part of the ‘My Bharat Budget Quest’ competition, impressed the Prime Minister with its insightful views and ideas. The recognition of Rath’s essay underscores the intellectual prowess of Odisha’s youth, reflecting their commitment to societal progress and gender equality.
