Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached out to floor leaders of all parties in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, urging their backing for the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam to ensure the enforcement of women’s reservation before the 2029 elections.
The Prime Minister stressed the significance of passing the legislation, which advocates for one-third reservation for women in legislative bodies, during the upcoming special session of Parliament starting on April 16. He hailed it as a crucial step in fortifying democratic principles.
A Special Session has been scheduled for next week to discuss and approve the Women’s Reservation (Amendment) Bill.
PM Modi’s letter highlighted the forthcoming historic debate on the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam in Parliament from April 16. He emphasized the importance of collective progress and unity in moving forward together as a nation.
Recognizing the pivotal role of women in nation-building, he emphasized the necessity for women to have the opportunity to lead and make decisions for societal advancement. He underlined the vital contribution of women in India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.
Referring to the 2023 events when lawmakers from all parties supported the legislation on women’s reservation, PM Modi recalled the unity displayed on that occasion. He viewed it as a significant milestone in enhancing women’s participation in politics and strengthening democratic institutions.
