Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to speak at three consecutive rallies in West Bengal on Saturday, intensifying the BJP’s campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections. The rallies are set for April 23 and April 29. The Prime Minister will kick off the day with a Vijay Sankalp Sabha in Katwa around noon.
Later in the day, PM Modi will head to Jangipur for another rally at approximately 1:45 P.M., followed by a public meeting in Balurghat in Dakshin Dinajpur district at around 3:45 P.M. These events are part of a broader campaign plan, with PM Modi expected to address about 14 rallies across the state during this election period.
During previous rallies on April 9 in Haldia, Asansol, and Siuri, PM Modi criticized the ruling Trinamool Congress government. He highlighted issues such as alleged facilitation of infiltration into the state, the proliferation of crude bomb-making units, and the closure of state-run schools. PM Modi also accused the ruling party of arrogance, citing instances of disrespect towards dignitaries.
The BJP aims to regain political momentum in West Bengal after setbacks in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. PM Modi’s consecutive rallies are seen as a strategic move to boost party morale and enhance the party’s competition against the Trinamool Congress before the polling begins. The West Bengal Assembly elections, comprising 294 seats, will be held in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with vote counting scheduled for May 4.
