Prime Minister Narendra Modi is gearing up to ramp up the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) campaign in the South with a two-day trip to Chennai and Puducherry starting Friday. He is expected to land at Chennai International Airport on Friday afternoon before proceeding to Puducherry for a significant public rally in the evening. The visit aims to garner support for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies ahead of the upcoming elections in Puducherry.
Security measures are being tightened in preparation for the Prime Minister’s visit, with extensive arrangements being made by security agencies and local police in Chennai. Multiple layers of security, traffic diversions, and restrictions will be put in place to ensure smooth conduct and public safety during PM Modi’s engagements. Following the public event in Puducherry, he will return to Chennai the same night.
On Saturday, PM Modi is scheduled to engage with approximately 100 party officials, grassroots organizers, and key stakeholders in Chennai. The closed-door meeting will focus on enhancing booth-level mobilization and refining campaign strategies as the polling day in Tamil Nadu nears. Additionally, the Prime Minister will participate in an election campaign in support of the NDA candidate in Mylapore, a crucial constituency in Chennai.
The BJP’s visit is seen as a strategic move to strengthen its position in Tamil Nadu, where it is part of a larger alliance, and to reinforce its campaign efforts in Puducherry. A roadshow is reportedly being considered, with areas like T. Nagar being evaluated for inclusion in the route, although the final details are yet to be confirmed.
