Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for collective backing for the Women’s Reservation Bill, emphasizing the crucial role of empowering women in realizing the vision of a developed India by 2047. Stressing the necessity of women’s representation in legislative bodies, PM Modi highlighted the potential to enhance democracy’s vibrancy and inclusivity.
In a video message, PM Modi addressed the nation’s women, emphasizing the significance of leveraging the strength of “Matru Shakti” and “Nari Shakti” for national progress. He mentioned the shared goal of ensuring 33% representation for women in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, following the passage of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.
PM Modi underscored the positive momentum surrounding the issue, noting the support from various political parties and urging citizens to promote the bill. Emphasizing the transformative impact of women’s reservation on India’s democracy, he called for unity among Members of Parliament to expedite the legislation’s passage.
The Union Cabinet recently approved a draft amendment Bill to implement the Women’s Reservation Act ahead of the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.
