PMK founder S. Ramadoss has been moved to Chennai for advanced medical care after facing health issues during the Tamil Nadu Assembly election campaign. He is set to undergo specialized treatment at Apollo Hospitals under the supervision of senior doctors. Initially hospitalized in Salem, he was later shifted to Chennai for further assessment.
Doctors in Salem reported that his condition is currently stable and attributed his health problems to physical exhaustion from continuous campaigning and age-related factors. They mentioned that he experienced fatigue and a possible drop in blood pressure but is now stable and recovering well. Medical experts recommend at least 24 hours of observation and rest before resuming political activities.
Party leaders are optimistic about Ramadoss’s swift recovery and his return to the campaign trail. The situation arises amidst internal differences within the PMK, particularly between Ramadoss and his son, Anbumani Ramadoss. The father-son discord over party leadership and strategies has resulted in divergent political activities and campaign approaches, garnering attention ahead of the Assembly elections.
Ramadoss recently spoke at a public gathering in Pallapatti, Salem, supporting a constituency candidate. However, after his speech, he collapsed, prompting immediate medical attention. His daughter, Dr. Srikanti, and party members quickly arranged for his transfer to a nearby hospital, briefly disrupting the campaign schedule but ensuring timely medical care.
