PMK founder S. Ramadoss has urged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin to take immediate responsibility and close government-run liquor shops near public areas. Ramadoss highlighted a recent incident in Villupuram district where an intoxicated man from a nearby TASMAC shop caused a disturbance at a woman’s house, leading to police intervention.
Ramadoss expressed concern over alcohol-related violence, social unrest, and threats to women’s safety, emphasizing how alcohol consumption is turning individuals into violent offenders. He pointed out various cases of murder, domestic violence, and suicide linked to disputes over alcohol money in different districts of Tamil Nadu.
The PMK leader criticized the government for its indifference to the impact of alcohol on families and society. He also raised issues of law and order, citing the presence of liquor outlets near public places like bus stands, schools, and colleges, causing harassment to commuters, especially women.
Ramadoss called for immediate action, urging the Chief Minister to close liquor shops near public spaces as a step towards phased prohibition. He emphasized the need to address social harmony and protect women and families from the negative consequences of alcohol consumption.
