The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) is scheduled to move from the British-era building in South Block to its new location, ‘Seva Teerth’, at Kartavya Path this Friday. The inauguration by the Prime Minister will include Seva Teerth and Kartavya Bhavan-1 & 2, signifying a significant step in India’s administrative governance structure. Seva Teerth will house the PMO, the National Security Council Secretariat, and the Cabinet Secretariat, while Kartavya Bhavan-1 & 2 will host ministries like Finance, Defence, Health & Family Welfare, and Education.
The inauguration ceremony will commence with the unveiling of the building complex’s name, Seva Teerth, followed by the formal inauguration of Seva Teerth and Kartavya Bhavan-1 & 2. Prime Minister Modi is also expected to address a public event at Seva Teerth. The new complexes, designed to reflect PM Modi’s vision of a modern and citizen-centric governance system, feature digitally integrated offices, public interface zones, and centralized reception facilities to enhance collaboration, efficiency, and citizen engagement.
Built in accordance with 4-Star GRIHA standards, the complexes incorporate renewable energy systems, water conservation measures, waste management solutions, and high-performance building envelopes to reduce environmental impact and enhance operational efficiency. The buildings also boast safety and security features like smart access control systems, surveillance networks, and emergency response infrastructure to ensure a secure environment for officials and visitors.
The state-of-the-art building in the Centra Vista area is equipped with modern facilities to provide an optimal working environment, addressing the shortcomings of the previous location in South Block. Several key ministries will be housed at Kartavya Bhavan-1 & 2, including Finance, Defence, Health & Family Welfare, Corporate Affairs, Education, Culture, Law & Justice, Information & Broadcasting, Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Chemicals & Fertilizers, and Tribal Affairs.
