In a significant operation, the police in Patna have seized a substantial amount of brown sugar, along with materials for producing the drug, with an estimated value of about Rs 25 crore. Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya Sharma confirmed the recovery of the drugs. During a raid in the Alamganj police station area, two individuals were apprehended, and authorities found cash along with 1.6 kg of brown sugar.
SSP Sharma disclosed that the arrested individuals mentioned the existence of a factory-like setup for drug production. Upon investigation, the police discovered approximately 20 kg of raw materials and weapons. The total seizure included around 21.018 kg of high-quality brown sugar valued at Rs 25 crore. Additionally, the recovered items comprised two weapons, bullets, blank and signed cheques, among other things.
Highlighting the ongoing efforts against drug trafficking, SSP Sharma assured that further actions would be taken against those involved in smuggling and selling drugs. He mentioned the identification of a member of the Bihar Police linked to the case, who is currently evading authorities but will be apprehended for questioning soon. A joint operation in Bihar’s Samastipur district had recently led to the arrest of two individuals and the confiscation of heroin worth nearly Rs 6 lakh.
