Political leaders shared contrasting views following the tabling of the Economic Survey 2025-26 by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament. Uttar Pradesh Minister Anil Rajbhar praised India’s economic progress, noting its rise to the fifth-largest global economy.
On the other hand, BJD MP Sasmit Patra expressed caution, emphasizing the importance of agriculture and allied sectors in achieving growth projections. Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC defended the government’s economic strategy, highlighting the survey’s focus on reforms.
Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Pratul Shah Deo lauded the survey as positive and indicative of policy consistency. In contrast, Congress leader Vijay Namdevrao Wadettiwar raised concerns about Maharashtra’s financial situation.
The Economic Survey 2025-26, presented after the start of the Budget Session, offers an official assessment of the economy and outlines the government’s economic outlook for the upcoming fiscal year. It underscores key growth drivers, fiscal stability, inflation trends, employment conditions, and structural reforms, setting the stage for the forthcoming Union Budget.
