A political controversy has arisen in Kerala following the marriage of Monalisa Bhosle, a teenage girl known from the Kumbh Mela event. The Kerala Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused CPI-M leaders of involvement and is demanding legal action.
State BJP General Secretary, S. Suresh, has alleged that the marriage is part of a larger conspiracy and questioned how a 16-year-old girl could be married off under the supervision of political figures. He further accused CPI-M of trying to cover up the incident in the name of secularism.
The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes has reportedly confirmed that the girl was underage at the time of the wedding. This revelation has led to the Madhya Pradesh Police filing a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the groom, Farman Khan.
The controversy has deepened with calls for additional charges under the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and for forgery. BJP leader Suresh has demanded action against all those involved in the marriage without proper verification of documents.
The marriage, which occurred near Thiruvananthapuram, has sparked a heated debate within political and legal circles. Investigations are expected to intensify in the days ahead.
