Political turmoil in Bihar is escalating as rumors swirl about a potential leadership shift. There are talks of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar possibly moving to the Rajya Sabha, which could pave the way for a BJP-backed chief minister in the state. However, within the Janata Dal (United) (JDU), some members are advocating for Nitish Kumar to pass on the Chief Minister’s role to his son, Nishant Kumar.
A faction of JD(U) workers has been vocal in demanding that Nitish Kumar hand over the reins to his son, a sentiment expressed through posters, slogans, and public displays. Recently, during an event in Patna, party supporters chanted slogans in favor of Nishant Kumar, signaling a shift in allegiance.
The situation unfolded at the inauguration of a new guest house for Legislative Council members in Patna, where initially, praises were sung for Nitish Kumar but later transitioned to support for “Bihar ka CM Nishant Kumar.” Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha were also in attendance at the event.
Speculation is rife that Nitish Kumar might take oath as a Rajya Sabha member on April 10 after resigning from the Legislative Council. Talks between the BJP and JD(U) regarding portfolio distribution are ongoing, with key positions like the Home Department and Assembly Speaker yet to be finalized, hinting at a potential government reshuffle in Bihar.
