President Droupadi Murmu will visit Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, on Thursday to lay the foundation stone for the Shri Jagannath Temple project worth Rs 100 crore along Marine Drive in Kadma. The President’s itinerary also includes a tour of the Manipal TATA Medical College and an interaction with students.
Preparations are in full swing at Marine Drive in anticipation of the President’s visit. Seating enclosures, barricades, and stringent security measures have been set up by authorities and organizers to manage the expected large turnout.
The Shri Jagannath Spiritual and Cultural Charitable Centre is spearheading the development of the temple complex spread over nearly 2.5 acres on Marine Drive. The main temple structure will occupy 1.5 acres, while the remaining one acre is allocated for a spiritual and cultural center.
Inspired by the Jagannath Temple in Puri, the proposed temple’s architectural design will feature idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, Goddess Subhadra, and other deities. The trust group overseeing the project aims to complete the temple in four years and the cultural center in about two years, envisioning it as a significant religious and cultural landmark in Jamshedpur upon completion.
The cultural center’s focus will be on promoting value-based education and personality development among youth, drawing insights from scriptures like the Bhagavad Gita. President Murmu is expected to arrive at 12:20 p.m. and depart at 1:20 p.m. after addressing the gathering.
Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and Chief Minister Hemant Soren are also slated to attend the ceremony.
