Senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slammed the BJP during an election rally in Nazira, accusing them of running a “double slavery” government in Assam. She claimed that PM Modi and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma operate in a hierarchical chain of control, prioritizing industrialists over the welfare of Assam’s people. Gandhi alleged that the state’s resources were being handed over to corporate entities, neglecting local communities’ rights.

Priyanka Gandhi defended the Congress’ stance on the Zubeen Garg controversy, stating that it reflects the sentiments of many in Assam. She emphasized the importance of standing with the people and delivering justice, not as political opportunism but as a commitment. Gandhi urged voters to question the BJP’s governance and support a government focused on people-centric policies and accountability.

The political battle in Assam has intensified as both the BJP and Congress engage in aggressive campaigning ahead of the state elections.
