The Pro Wrestling League (PWL) is gearing up for growth by considering adding the Greco-Roman style to future tournaments. Following a successful PWL 2026 season, which saw Haryana Thunders emerge victorious, plans are in motion to enhance the league’s global appeal.
Chairman and Promoter Dayaan Farooqui disclosed that discussions are ongoing to expand the league’s format and include Greco-Roman wrestling alongside freestyle matches. Farooqui highlighted the league’s intention to introduce two Greco-Roman bouts in addition to freestyle bouts, aiming to enhance the overall experience for fans.
Farooqui emphasized that PWL’s vision extends beyond the competition, with initiatives like a dedicated gaming app in the works to boost fan engagement. The league aims to create a sustainable ecosystem around wrestling, focusing on long-term growth and fan involvement.
Reflecting on the overwhelming fan support, Farooqui expressed gratitude for the positive response after a six-year hiatus. The league’s return garnered significant enthusiasm, evident in the packed finale that showcased wrestling’s deep-rooted connection with Indian audiences. The successful comeback has also attracted interest from the international wrestling community, with United World Wrestling (UWW) representatives expressing eagerness for deeper collaboration with PWL.
