Prominent Muslim clerics in Uttar Pradesh have strongly criticized the recent killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in strikes by the US and Israel. Maulana Mufti Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi, National President of the All India Muslim Jamaat, expressed deep sorrow over Khamenei’s death, emphasizing its impact not only on Iran but on all who revered him. He accused the US and Israel of targeting Khamenei for years, labeling the attack as oppressive and aimed at destabilizing Iran’s leadership.
Maulana Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahali, Chairman of the Lucknow Islamic Centre, denounced the strikes as a breach of international law and condemned the killing of Khamenei, asserting his right to defend his nation. He called for immediate intervention by the United Nations and the global community to stop the conflict. Shia religious leader Maulana Saif Abbas also condemned the US-Israel strike, likening it to a terrorist act that should be globally condemned. He criticized the US for its consistent interference and aggression, denouncing the escalation of violence.
The death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, confirmed by Iranian state media, has led to a 40-day national mourning period in Iran. Iranian forces have retaliated with missile and drone strikes on US and Israeli targets in the region. The conflict has triggered protests in parts of Kashmir and other regions in India, with demonstrators showing solidarity with Iran and denouncing the military actions that resulted in Khamenei’s demise.
