Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar criticized the Chief Minister for holding political rallies under waterproof tents while farmers in the state suffer losses from unseasonal rains and hailstorms. Jakhar highlighted the government’s failure to address farmers’ issues and urged immediate crop damage assessment and compensation distribution. He pointed out that despite having over Rs 13,000 crore in disaster relief funds from the Centre, the state government has not taken necessary actions.
Alleging favoritism, Jakhar mentioned the installation of waterproof tents in mandis with permanent sheds to benefit contractors, leaving farmers’ crops vulnerable to harsh weather. He also accused the government of procuring buses from a company it had previously criticized, labeling the anti-corruption campaign as a mere publicity stunt. Jakhar expressed concerns over the rising corruption, deteriorating law and order situation, and the increasing drug menace in Punjab.
Jakhar referred to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent visit, stating that the BJP has presented a plan for change, which is gradually dispelling misconceptions spread by opposition parties. Emphasizing the need for capable leadership, Jakhar asserted that only the BJP can address issues like drug abuse, restore peace, and promote communal harmony in Punjab, noting a growing desire for change among the state’s residents.
