Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra stated that the state is ready for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, with all necessary activities proceeding smoothly and on schedule. A comprehensive pre-SIR mapping exercise has been conducted across all districts of Punjab to date. As of April 4, 74.27% of Punjab’s electors have been mapped with the last intensive revision records.
Highlighting the progress made, Mitra mentioned that out of a total of 21,457,521 electors in Punjab, 15,936,941 electors have been mapped. To ensure the timely completion of the pre-SIR exercise, daily monitoring of progress by Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) is being carried out at the headquarters level. Mitra provided insights on district-wise mapping percentages, with districts like Tarn Taran, Moga, Muktsar Sahib, and Mansa showing high mapping percentages.
Mitra emphasized that citizens should actively locate and map their details by referring to the 2003 electoral rolls, which are crucial for the SIR process. During the SIR exercise, booth-level officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door enumeration across the state, distributing and collecting enumeration forms along with supporting documents to ensure complete coverage. Every elector listed in the 2025 voter list must fill out these enumeration forms.
