Punjab has initiated the next phase of its Sikhya Kranti (education revolution) by introducing Mission Samrath 4.0. Led by Education Minister Harjot Bains and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, this foundational learning program aims to elevate education standards globally. A key feature of this phase is the implementation of a state-wide attendance-tracking system. Parents will now receive daily SMS alerts regarding their child’s attendance, enhancing real-time accountability and ensuring consistent learning in classrooms.
Education Minister Bains described this move as a significant advancement in Punjab’s education reform. The state, already recognized as the top performer in the PARAKH survey, is now focused on translating this recognition into tangible outcomes. By emphasizing classroom accountability and promoting effective teaching methods, Punjab aims to drive visible improvements in learning outcomes across government schools. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s increased education budget of Rs 19,279 crore underscores the government’s commitment to channeling funds directly into classrooms for enhanced educational experiences.
Under the leadership of CM Mann, Punjab has introduced the attendance-tracking system as part of Mission Samrath 2026-27. This initiative aims to further strengthen parental involvement in monitoring their child’s attendance. Parents will receive daily alerts on their child’s attendance status, with notifications for any absences. The system is designed to encourage regular attendance, ensure continuous learning, and foster active engagement in classrooms. Additionally, a structured protocol will be followed for children with prolonged absences to maintain learning continuity and prioritize child welfare.
Mission Samrath has significantly reshaped classroom dynamics in Punjab, focusing on elevating teaching standards and fostering accountability through attendance monitoring and knowledge sharing. The primary objective is to guarantee that every child attains a solid foundational education. By emphasizing the importance of attendance tracking, improved supervision, and the dissemination of best practices, Punjab is committed to nurturing a conducive learning environment for all students.
