In a significant development, the Counter Intelligence (CI) wing of Punjab Police has dismantled an ISI-supported terror group run by Pakistan Intelligence Operatives. Three individuals have been apprehended, and authorities have seized two Arges hand grenades and a foreign-made Glock pistol. The Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav confirmed the operation in Chandigarh.
The arrested individuals are Sarabjit Singh from Tarn Taran, Bikramjit Singh and Amandeep Singh from Amritsar. The recovered grenades, marked with Pakistan Ordnance Factory (POF) insignia, suggest connections across the border. The group was reportedly targeting police facilities in multiple states, a threat that has now been neutralized.
Further investigations are underway to identify and capture other members of the module. AIG (Special Operations) Sukhminder Singh Mann disclosed that Sarabjit Singh and Amandeep Singh were apprehended with grenades and a pistol. Bikramjit Singh, the alleged primary contact for Pakistan Intelligence Operatives, was traced to Deesa in Gujarat and subsequently arrested with the help of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in Gujarat.
The probe uncovered that the accused maintained contact with Pakistan Intelligence Operatives through social media channels. The group, under ISI directives, was planning grenade attacks on police establishments in Punjab and other regions. Legal action has been initiated under relevant sections in Amritsar to address the situation.
