Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu has secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the Indonesia Masters 2026. She will be facing top seed Chen Yu Fei in Jakarta on Friday. Men’s singles star Lakshya Sen and women’s singles player Anmol Kharb have also progressed to the next stage. However, former World Championship silver medallist Kidambi Srikanth and men’s doubles pair Hariharan Amsakarunan/M.R Arjun have exited the BWF World Tour event.
Sindhu’s quarterfinal match against Chen is anticipated to be closely contested, with Chen leading their head-to-head 7-6. Sindhu earned her spot with a 21-19, 21-18 victory over Denmark’s Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt in a 43-minute match. Seventh seed Lakshya Sen also advanced and is set to play against Thailand’s Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul after a dominant 21-10, 21-11 win over Hong Kong’s Jason Gunawan in another 43-minute battle.
Anmol Kharb faced former world No.1 and Olympic bronze medallist Nozomi Okuhara, winning the first game 21-16 before exiting the tournament. Kidambi Srikanth and men’s doubles pair Hariharan Amsakarunan/M R Arjun also bowed out of the competition. Earlier, Sindhu faced a challenging first-round match but secured a straight-games victory over Japan’s Manami Suizu in the opening round of the Indonesia Masters.
Kidambi Srikanth, a former World No. 1, triumphed over Japan’s Koki Watanabe in a thrilling first-round match with a 21-15, 21-23, 24-22 victory. Srikanth displayed aggressive shot-making in the opening game but faced difficulties in the second game. However, his aggressive playstyle in crucial moments helped him secure the win against Watanabe.
In the previous week’s India Open 2026, PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth, and H.S Prannoy exited early from the HSBC BWF World Super 750 event. Sen reached the quarterfinals but fell short against Lin Chun-Yi, losing in three games. Despite winning the opening game, Sen struggled from the faster side of the court, ultimately losing 17-21, 21-13, 21-18 in the men’s singles quarterfinals.
